Camp DescriptionsInteracting and Playing with Others (June 25-28 or July 9-12) This camp will focus on initiating and maintaining play based interactions by developing attending, appropriate greetings, initiations, turn taking, sharing, and reciprocal play. A few of the many activities will include scavenger hunt, relay races, collage making, and games of all sorts. Understanding Emotions and Coping Skills (July 16-19 or July 23-26) Campers will develop their abilities to understand what others are feeling based on context, and facial expressions and strategies both verbal and non-verbal for dealing with difficult situations. A few of the many activities will include charades, games, stories, and a scavenger hunt. Conversation Skills (July 30-August 2 or August 6-9) This camp will provide opportunities to practice initiating conversations, elaborating and maintaining conversation on a given topic, and conversation as it relates to playing games or doing activities with a friend. A few of the many activities will include games, crafts, play and fun. All camps are $150 per week with a $25 non-refundable enrollment fee. All camps will be held at Howard Park Center at 15834 Clayton Road, Ellisville, MO (click here for map). Camps are run by two Master’s level educators Monday through Thursday from 1:00 to 4:00 and include a snack time. Howard Park offers extended care from 9-3pm if childcare is needed before camps for $7/hr and as many hours as are needed can be purchased.
